At the 39th Worldfest - Houston Independent Film Festival, April 21-30, 2006, the film “Horse Encyclopedia” received a Special Jury Award in the Documentary film category.

The Jury not only considered it as an extremely bright work of great talent, but as well as the most honest and revolutionary film in essence. It was the first to show fairly and objectively the position of horses in the modern society and defined the problem of horse suffering in the equestrian sport. The Jury also noted its historical value and the brilliant director’s and operator’s work.

Houston Film Festival is one of the largest in the world with 4500 entries received this year. Special Jury Award is the top award of the Festival for creative skills.

04.05: The Revolution started!

Dear friends, remember this day! 4th of May, 2006. That day the 8th International Salon “Ipposfera” was opened in St.Petersburg within the scope of which the All-Russian equestrian jumping competition will take place. This is a large scale competition with a great prize fund. And for the first time in history such an event was accompanied by a mass protest action against the equestrian sport. This action was organized by the Horse Revolution Association.

Right at the show-jumping arena people unfolded posters and placards that called upon to stop horse torturing. Competition organizers tried to ignore the situation and to reward horse torturers with ribbons and other silly stuff while public at stands poked their fingers at posters, whispered nervously and completely forgot about confused sportsmen. Such was the picture all remembered: a lot of opponents to the equestrian sport, bright unmasking posters and beetle-browed sportsmen on horses whose eyes and mouths were full of pain.

The protest action attracted attention of the leading part of Russian mass media, many television channels showed later reports about it.

This day went down in history. Horse suffering will be stopped. The revolution started!

The time has come when it's impossible to hide out from the public. So many letters with gratitude and answers to Nevzorov has arrived that in spite of my desire to help I am just unable to answer even its hundredth part.

We were not ready for such a turning-point in current situation. At first, after the film "Horse Encyclopedia" had been shown on TV, we were glad to find out a great deal of normal people in our country. But now the quantity of correspondence turns into a problem.

Nevzorov raised a tide of indignation, inspired and convinced lots of people to follow his example. And now we are responsible for these people. The most frequently asked question is "I realized everything what should I do next?"

According to the letters the main problem lies therein: like-minded persons, people with kind hearts, with conscience and normal brains are unable to struggle against environment, against stable principles, against sportsmen, against slow-witted and malicious coaches who do not want to give up their positions, look upon themselves as professionals in the horse world and thus struggle for their right to torment horses. It's clear that these so called professionals will never acknowledge their inferiority, will never admit that for decades they have been living in captivity of their own mistakes and myths.

It's hard to understand and admit that all they do is wrong and sometimes even criminal. It’s hard to admit this, to repent and to strive after the truth. Only people with sincere hearts are capable to do it. People who saw a horse for the first time only two months ago and had no time to soak in all the nonsense that is spread at soviet-standard stables together with a stink of ammonia have more chances to become professionals. However do not be afraid of coaches, do not act like sportsmen and just do not be shy.

The aim of this site is to ensure you that you are not alone, that there are many of us and that we are strong together. It doesn’t matter if you have no supporters at your stable, you'll surely find them on the nearby one!

Unfortunately my husband Alexander Nevzorov took no part in creation of this site. This project is totally my initiative.

I am really eager to educate people, to give them information that would have a positive influence on their minds, because ultimately the life of horse depends on man's knowledge and attitude. And the aim of my life is to change man’s attitude towards horses.

I decided to engage in this hard but noble battle. I will try to become an intermediary between the Master and horsemen, I will try to provide all information in a popular form for all persons who are anxious to get it.

My husband didn't give his blessing to all this. He's a conservative; sometimes it seems to me that he is living the 14th century. He can't stand any innovation and modernization. He looks upon the Internet as a “devilish thing” and even never uses it as well as e-mail. He doesn't watch TV and makes no exception even for his own films or programs with his participation. He began to wear his first watch only now and only because it was a present of a deeply regarded friend of him. He uses computer only as a typewriter. He justly believes that the best books have been written in the candle light. He drives a car but he hasn’t a slightest idea about technical mechanisms or car models. He disapproves the idea of giving knowledge for the masses believing that unique attainments and skills have to be passed only from one man to another and he considers it will be enough that he passes a part of his knowledge and skills to several followers, and the main knowledge and secrets to his children.

However I know that my husband is a kind, virtuous and bright person, I see how much he does for people, I hope together we will find the way to smelt his heart and to draw his attention to this project. Nowadays it seems almost impossible to do this, but the fact that Nevzorov shoes no animosity to the Internet and to this site particularly encourages me much. There’s only big indifference from his side. He always believed and believes that if the knowledge becomes popular (and that is happening in the Internet) it loses any interest for him. "There is no sense in learning things that may be found by any scoundrel’s pushing three buttons".

To tell the truth I see an encouraging progress concerning his relations with electronics. A year ago he agreed to send congratulations to his friends from France, Spain, Germany and the United States through the Internet and not by ordinary mail as he used to do. And half a year ago he agreed to hold an on-line consultation with one the biggest world museums concerning antique bits (Alexander Nevzorov is a first-rate internationally recognized expert in any horse 'iron' starting from the Lourdes, Cimmerian and Scythian periods up to the 19th century).

I hope he will answer himself to the most interesting letters with questions (I'm going to show him the printed letters), and may be in future I realize one my idea and it will be possible to download some short videos and photo lessons from the site: It will be on School page. Those of you who have already joined Haute Ecole school and achieved some results can send letters with photo evidence of your success to our site. The best ones will be posted on the School page as an example for all others.

Now the School is presented by only one man. This is a very talented young man, a pupil and follower of Alexander Nevzorov. His name is Sergey Sumbaev. He has kindly agreed to help me with the administration of the site. Sergey is young but he has already achieved some great results with his three horses. I guess he is now able to answer many questions concerning relations with horses in the Nevzorov Haute Ecole style.

I forgot to say that there will be limited access to that page. To get an access to that section and forum you need to send me a written request with detailed information about yourself, with photos of your horse and if possible with recommendations. We’ll read your request in a short period and check thoroughly the information. If we consider you as an adequate person we’ll send you a password for access. It doesn't matter whether you’re a skilled horseman or not, but you definitely should have an opportunity to train your horse on a regular basis, your attitude towards your horse should be correct and you must reject violence.

It seems to me that Alexander underestimates the 'power' of the Internet, thinking that it is visited only by some "thirty fourteen year-old girls that like to ride horses somewhere for money and it's senseless to waste time on them". I hope it's not like that.

He and I have no doubt that it’s love for horses that leads horsemen to equestrian world. There’s a lot of normal and good people in Russia who has just been in the power of old stable prejudices for all this time. No one explained them that they can be friends with horses and communicate with them without violence, that sport is not the only way of communicating with a horse, that sport is the worst way to acquire trust and love of this wonderful animal.

Another frequently asked question is "Whether it is possible that the equestrian sport and races will ever disappear?" Unfortunately these phenomena won't disappear completely. Sportsmen won't fade away as drug addicts or child prostitution. Equestrian sport is simply one of many human vices. Man is vicious by his nature and he'll never change. But the number of sportsmen will decrease thousands times and they'll have to jump over painted sticks somewhere behind a high fence like “dog-lovers” hide now in courtyards for dog fights. Very soon the equestrian sport will be excluded from the Olympics program. And of course parents won't send their children to the equestrian sport schools.

"And what about 'President races' and ladies in hats?" These ladies still will be wearing their hats as they are great-granddaughters of those ladies in hats and caps who gathered on squares to watch public executions and corporal punishment. This pleasure is of the same nature, it’s the same adrenalin. If we had now for example 'President executions’ with only VIPs allowed to see them, all those ladies in hats for sure would move there. This is the case that horses have nothing to do with. Everything depends on the president's predilection.

Another question is "If the equestrian sport disappears what will happen with horses? Will they all become meat?" But have you ever thought about what happens with horses now? Do you know that 70% of racehorses are thrown out, and others become invalids. Where do you think they go? Where does horse-flesh in supermarkets come from? Go to the site of Russian Horse Breeding Institute and see how they’re concerned about raising horse-meat productivity in the country. Don’t be hypocrites. Just don't breed horses in such a quantity, don't inseminate mares with sperm diluted more than a hundred times. With time the number of horses will decrease but they will be happier.

We receive a great number of questions and you can find answers to them in the directory FAQ, and there you can leave your own questions. Here will be as well my page with the information concerning thermography and with articles about horse’s health. Haute Ecole is impossible without due care and grooming. I also want to post here all the letters we change with horsemen and to discuss here the problems of horse care and health. Now it takes me at the least two hours every day to answer these questions. It's hard, I don't have time. You see, I study, work, write articles, take photos, train horses, and help my husband.

Photogallery will play an important role. Here we posted some photos of our horses. This part of the website will be updated on a regular basis. Those who want to obtain these photos in high resolution (representatives of mass media) should send me an e-mail. I'm the only representative of BBACs in Russia. BBACs - Bitless Bridle Associate Clinics - is an organization, a union of vets and hippologists that offered a revolutionary new conception of riding horses – in a bitless way. Everyone who doesn't want to cause suffering to his horse using bits but who is not ready for the use of cordeo needs this bridle. As new questions and proposals come from you, we’ll add some new materials to the website. It’s hard to tell now what it will be precisely. But one thing is certain: you won't find here any talks about sport achievements, here’s no place for hypocrisy and lie. I reserve to myself the right to express an uncomplimentary opinion. But you can't do it, it's my site. All boorish letters will be cruelly thrown away. You are welcome to criticize or ask provocative questions, but such letters may not be anonymous.

You may send materials that can be interesting for our site; and as well you can send the names of sportsmen and photos where their cruelty towards horses is shown. We’ll put them in the pillory. It's detestable and horrible thing but it's necessary to condemn these sadists. They won't be ashamed, but maybe they will stop to punish their horses publicly. I've noticed that after the film "Horse Encyclopedia" they are ashamed to whip horses openly as they used to do, but maybe it’s only in my presence.

You will never see any banners with ads of horse tack stores on this site as they all support indirectly the equestrian sport. Considering this don’t even try to ad something like this here. This site is only for 'horse affairs' and so please don’t send us letters concerning anything but horses. And I would like to ask you not to send us such a request: “ let me come to your manege and watch your work". It's impossible. Alexander Nevzorov said once and for all that in the manege there’s place only for "either my followers or masters whose opinion I appreciate, or cameramen. This list can't be extended".
